The Short Answer
A dock leveler's price is driven by four factors: type, capacity, platform size, and surface finish. A basic mechanical or edge-of-dock unit costs the least; a high-capacity hydraulic leveler with a telescopic lip and galvanized finish costs the most. Because every dock is different, an accurate price always requires a quote against your specific pit dimensions and load.
What Drives the Price
Type — hydraulic levelers cost more than mechanical, because they include an electro-hydraulic power unit. Edge-of-dock levelers cost the least.
Capacity — the difference between a 12 t and a 16 t leveler is modest, but sizing up adds steel and cost.
Platform size — larger platforms (2000×2500 mm vs 1800×2000 mm) use more material.
Finish — powder coating is standard; hot-dip galvanizing adds cost but is worth it for cold storage or coastal sites.
Quantity — container-load orders are priced differently from single units.
