Cold-storage loading docks need equipment that seals tightly against warm outside air and survives moisture, condensation, and thermal cycling. The two essentials are a dock shelter or seal that closes the gap around the trailer, and a dock leveler with corrosion-resistant finish.
What to Specify
Dock leveler — choose hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated finish to resist corrosion from condensation; verify the hydraulic power unit is rated for cold starts.
Dock shelter — an inflatable or foam shelter seals the trailer perimeter and prevents frost build-up and energy loss.
Vehicle restraint — keeps the trailer tight against the seal so cold air does not escape during loading.
Dock bumper — protects the dock and door frame from trailer impact in icy conditions.
Why It Matters
An unsealed dock lets warm, humid air into a refrigerated space, causing frost, slipping hazards, and higher energy costs. REDA dock levelers offer powder-coated RAL 9005 or hot-dip galvanized finishes and interlock with dock shelters and restraints for a tight, energy-efficient seal.
